Real bad weather across the UK, and all Dundee got was some dry snow on Thursday morning, and a snow shower on Friday evening! Decided to play it safe and stay reasonably close to home. So, St Andrews it was then...

Left Stagecoach in Fife Volvo Citybus 920 (C800 USG) was on this site a few months back.. At one point, when this vehicle was deemed a "coach", it was the regular vehicle on the X96 Dundee - St Andrews direct hourly shuttle. This service is now the 99/99A/99B every 20 minutes, mostly using PS types. Here, the bus is seen opposite the Student Union in Market Street, working town service 91. Right Moffat & Williamson's St Andrews town service - on paper as 9B - mainly uses a Mercedes Vario V117 ESL, which has just passed its third birthday. The route has remained unchanged since September 1993 - the only route in St Andrews to run so long unchanged! Additionally, the loads on this run have helped to justify two new buses within this time. The last bus, a Mellor Coachraft bodied Mercedes, is now running from Glenrothes, but did not display a number during its time on the 9B - hence perhaps why the new bus displays 9 instead. (By this time the Fife 9 was long forgotten!) Also in Market Street.

Left In the July 2002 service changes, Dundee - St Andrews direct was increased from 2 to 3 buses an hour, for the first time since the bus war! (But then it was two buses every 45 minutes....) The third spoke is 99B, which does a loop around John Knox Road and Broomfaulds Avenue, before returning to the Bus Station and Dundee. Volvo B10M/PS type 340 is seen further along Market Street. Right St Andrews Bay Golf Resort has a few Mercedes Sprinter vehicles, used to transfer staff & guests to/from St Andrews town centre, Bus Station, or Leuchars railway station. These vehicles are used ad-hoc as required for conferences etc. and as a result, times you can see them will vary. Here, Y416 VNS is seen at the taxi service road at the side of St Andrews bus station.

Still very dull and dour weather out there... however, during a trip to Aberdeen today, managed around 40 photos. Here are those that turned out (Inbetween trafic snarl-ups, motorists cutting in, and pedestrians getting in the way! rant over!)

Left Until recently, Bluebird 013 (G213 SSL) is now 14963 in the new national sequence. The bus is seen turning from Union Street into Market Street. Right AFAIK this is the only Route 11 branded vehicle for the "Brown Line" which runs every 16 minutes on an "every 15 minutes or better" network... Seen in Union Street, passing St Nicholas Street and Market Street. This bus is Volvo B10BLE 601 (X601 NSS) LATER: 670 also branded.

Left Turning out of Broad Street, into Union Street, is Volvo B10BLE 649 (X693 ADK). These "Shop @ Panasonic" dark blue adverts are somewhat confusing with the Route 17 Blue Line advertising! Right Volvo B10BLE 661 (R585 SBA) is a new turquoise-blue allover advertisment for RGIT Montrose training company... The bus is seen at the Castlegate heading along Union Street.

Left Volvo B7LA bendi-bus 4 (W4 FAL) is seen opposite the bus depot in King Street. What's that coming off the back.... Right The bus was, seconds later, replaced by an ALX300 Volvo B10BLE outside the depot gates.

Left Volvo B10BLE 657 (W683 RNA) is prersently showing off a rear end advert for Grampian Police. The car behind was tailing off quite a bit! Right Forgotten what a real blue line branded bus looks like? Similar 617 (X617 NSS) provides a handy reminder!

Left Seen here heading south against the financial buildings in Union Terrace, is "Barbie2" liveried Leyland Olympian 128 (E128 DRS). The E-registered Olympians were the first buses purchased after the formation of GRT (ex Grampian Regional Council Transport Unit) in 1986. Right Volvo Olympian/Northern Counties 16248 (L248 SDY) of Stagecoach Bluebird, was until recently 104. The bus is seen heading north in Union Terrace, en-route to Inverurie.

Left An impatient motorist gets in the way only just! Volvo B7TL/Alexander ALX400135 (X104 NSS) is seen heading north on Union Terrace, and onto Scatterburn on "pink line" Service 13. Right Leyland Olympian 096 of Stagecoach Bluebird (J196 YSS) has gained three more digits to its fleetnumber, and is now 14496 as a result. The vehicle was new in 1992 for Aberdeen - Peterhead/Fraserburgh services, which did have an Olympian on them on the day in question! Changed 02/02/03

Two shots now taken at the Heathryfold terminus. Both Metro routes 22 & 23 provide a service to here, giving good photo possibilities - if the light didn't burn onto them, or off the golf course! Left First Aberdeen branded Wright-bodied Volvo B10BLE 637 (Y637 RSA) is in yellow for the.... erm.... line.... Right Unbranded ALX300-bodied Volvo B10BLE 817 (W595 RFS) arrives at the terminus, also on the 23.

Left The original concept bus! K1 GRT, a Mercedes 0405G articulated vehicle with Alexander "Cityranger" bodywork, was clearly a one-off, even with GRT "specficiation" issues. However, the bus is still coming in handy, moving large loads and can be seen RedLine on 1/2, Park & Ride 40, Airport 27, and the Orange Line 16 - as seen here. Right New to Capital Citybus, Volvo B6 203 (L675 RMD) heads north for Ashwood from Broad Street... the vehicle was new at Hackney for Route 236, as vehicle 675.
