Saturday 18 January 2003

In Edinburgh... Mac Tours are presently running a shuttle service 2A between Bristo Place and Lauriston Place, Lady Lawson Street, Grassmarket, and George IV Bridge. This replaces Service 2 while Candlemaker Row is closed for gas repairs. It will be running next week also! As Macs only have two suitable vehicles, Lothian supplied the vehicle, Macs supplied the driver, and I got the photos!

Some more photos taken on the way to Edinburgh, took in some more Fife stuff, before heading across the forth to Edinburgh City Centre, Bristo (2A - above), then onto the Bridges/Newington, before the light went....

Stop at Ferrytoll proves productive! On the left Fife's service changes on 20 January mean there will no longer be a Dunfermline town service (D3) running all the way to Ferrytoll & North Queensferry! The service will now be numbered 81... Right Speaking of changes, a bus has been touring round Dunfermline this week giving out new timetables. Something makes me think it was 70 - look at all the new route maps on the windows! Also, the digital blind has been re-programmed two days early, as Service 73 now displays 73A when heading to the Ferry terminal.
Left Fife 546 at Ferrytoll - not on express work, but on stopping service 55. Right Now in Edinburgh, and First 2403 is a recent addition from Western National - where it was used on long distance NatEx branded services. Now, it is working the recently expanded Service X1 to Bathgate and Armadale (seen here) along with the other recently introduced/revised West Lothian expresses.
Left top Throughout the last year or so, First have been adding Roe-bodied Leyland Olympians from other parts of First. These were new to West Yorkshire PTE. 906 is now at Dalkeith, and is working Route 86. The latter (one-time Diamond Service!) is now using just about anything, following the November service changes. X77 to Rosewell - formerly 79, 89, then 79 again - seens to get a mix also, with some Barbie Olympians, with the odd Ailsa coming along on occasions! Right Two of Lothian's Darts seen at the West End. The "new" one on the left has the 22 & N22 - more discreet - branding, with lettering promoting the night services. The "old" one has the "old" style 22 panel branding, despite being on the 24. Left bottom One of Lothian's new long-wheelbase, single-doored Tridents - 643 - seen on Nicholson Street, Newington.
