Some more photos from Dundee City Centre and Broughty Ferry, plus some from the Perth Road/West End area too.

Left RedLine routes 1A/1B seem to see a Volvo Citybus most days of the week. Here, Volvo Citybus 95 is seen at Albert Square. Right Dennis Dart SLF 87, recently transferred from Travel West Midlands, has been painted allover blue - minus the front (which has mucked up the colour balance on this photo!) for Cash Generator. No, the 21 has not moved back to the High School bus stop at Albert Square - the bus was "blocking back" to allow the 19 Kirkton bus (Scania 64) to pick up, before moving into the shared stop.
Left Strathtay Optare MetroRider 148 is on Service 71 for the second day this week. However, the bus has the earlier "Panmurefield/Dobbies" blind insert, with two strips of black gaffa tape covering the first part! To get round this way of how not to blind a bus, I've snapped the bus en-route back to the city centre, seen in Broughty Ferry Brook Street. Right Another of the first order of Volvo B7TL's from Strathtay, 701, is seen on Service 75 along the Perth Road.
Travel Dundee's Volvo B6's are set to depart shortly, when six ex-Travel London Optare Excel's get rebodied and single-doored, and then transferred north. Left 116 is seen at Perth Road on Service 2, Right while 117 is seen also on the Perth Road - but further along and on the other side of the road - on Service 36.
Left Stagecoach in Fife Volvo B10M/Alexander PS type 310, seen at Perth Road post office. Right Strathtay Volvo B7TL 708, the "extra" one ordered to replace accident-damaged 911 (on paper at least) is seen on Blackness Avenue

Quick trip to Perth this morning - here is some of what I saw!

Left Dennis Dart SLF 33135 (ex 435) of Stagecoach in Perth, has been fitted with this orange LED display as an experiment. Right Leyland Olympian 14408 (ex 8) of Stagecoach in Perth (Bluebird Buses Ltd.) is now in the new livery. Both seen in York Place.

Left Also in York Place is Dennis Dart SLF 3341 (ex 431) which now carries Route 7 lettering. Right Pedestrianisation has strected to the St Johns Square area of Perth. As a result buses on the 1, 2, 3, 7, 11, 12, 13, and Strathtay 56, services, now divert via Tay Street, and serve the far end of High Street. MAN 22713 (ex 713) makes the most of the available road space en-route to Scone.

Dundee Broughty Ferry and Ninewells Hospital, were the areas visited today. The bus stance at Ninewells is presently being redeveloped, and the Ferry had a few things worth spotting also !

Left Seeing non-driver trainers doing L-work is getting more common. Travel Dundee 162 is seen turning from St Andrews Street into Seagate. Right Strathtay Volvo Olympian 960, now Dundee based, seen behind the bus station doing a crew change, before proceeding to Monifeith Broomhill Drive.
Left Part-pedestrianasation of Broughty Ferry town centre (served by the 9X/10X, 69A/69C, 71 and 88) is creating complaints from car users. Easy to see why, as Volvo B7TL 708 at Queen Street, is getting seriously out numbered... Right Travel Dundee 147 seen at Gray Street on Service 9X. First time I've photographed a yellow bus on the right route? Actually, to be honest, I'd let them go past often enough - so I've now made up for it!
Strathtay have operated the 69A/69C local services around Broughty Ferry and Barnhill since January 1991, when the 59 was taken on from Tayside Buses. To cope with demand, in November 1993 the 59 became 69C, while a new anti-clockwise loop was introduced, dubbed the 69A. These routes are especially handy for those who can't climb the hump-backed bridge at Fort Street to & from "the Ferry". Both services are worked (5 days out of 6) by regular drivers who also have regular vehicles. Indeed, one has dubbed his route the "Ferry-Go-Round".... as it runs around the area every 30 minutes. Left Mercedes Vario 223 is seen on Service 69C. This working is temporary while roadworks are on the Drumsturdy Road. Why? Because the school run done by the driver immediatly before working the 69C, comes out of South Kingennie where all the traffic is presently using it as a rat-run to avoid the closure. So, the big bus used (then the driver would come back to the bus station to pick up 149) for this, is being replaced by a 33 seater at the moment, to let the bus nip between traffic (about 30 or so kids on it at present). Right Meanwhile, the 69A has recently upgraded from 31-seater Optare MetroRider 217, to Mercedes Vario 223. Due to the expansion of the Ballumbie Castle housing estate, the school run done before the 69A is now carrying more kids to/from Murroes School, than ever before. Some will recall 148 was the regular on this before (25 seater) !
Now at Ninewells Hospital, where works for the improved bus terminal are well under way. Left Volvo B7TL 707, of Strathtay, is seen at Ninewells "temporary" replacement for Stance D. Right Travel Dundee Services 17 (Stance B) and 22/22C (Stance A) are not moved, but instead are presently fighting past one side of roadworks - and the inevitable taxis. Here, 138 is seen on the 17, with road works in progress behind.
Left Stagecoach in Fife 310, just arrived from St Andrews on Service 96, and is about to head back to Cupar as a Service 42. Right Strathtay Volvo Olympian 958 is still at Arbroath depot, and can still be seen on crewed 73/73A services, as well as the 39 (Dundee - Montrose). Both seen at Ninewells Hospital.
