Just
the one photograph today (took a few more, but none out-of-the-usual!),
Travel Dundee Volvo B10L 145 gets out on shoppers service 88
deputising for the usual Dennis Dart (usually the SLF 121) or a B6.
Volvo B10L 145 seen at Broughty Ferry Gray Street. As no fares are charged on this route (Sainsbury's pick up the tab!) the Daysaver4 £4.00 and Adult Day Saver £2.00 branding seems rather superflous! |

The
orange branded Volvo B10L 122 seems to have gone into hiding
since the weekend! Not only is 125 now also branded - but this
has no lettering, meaning white, red, orange and blue look like
Strathtay and Stagecoach! Meanwhile, the Fintry Shuttle (as it
will be known) continues to see hairy workings, like Volvo
Citybus 99 today.
When several users of the Fintry service contacted the press, some of them took the "revised timetable with an extra bus in the afternoon peak" to mean double deckers. Several punters still talk amongst themselves of getting double deckers soon (who said they were? No-one, just one of the responses from the company re overcrowding was to say they would not put on double deckers to this route, as the passengers preferred low-floor buses!) Anyway, today they got their wish, on at least 17% of the all-day allocation, as bus 99 got out. Seen @ Union Street. Link corrected 10 May |

Dundee
public holiday, plus the first day of the closure of the south
side of Ninewells hospital (meaning the 9X, 42 and 96 are all on
diversion - 9X via Dickson Avenue, with the 42, 96 running via
Tech Park in both directions. Add that to the traffic in Gowrie
Park when Arran Drive closes next week....)
Firstly, Stagecoach in Perth sent newly-repainted Volvo B10M/Plaxton Interurban coach 528 to Dundee on Service 16, after it worked a private hire in Perth alongside 660. The bus is seen backing off from Dundee Bus Station. |
||
Usually on a Sunday, Service 4B and 5/6 are worked by the "FerryLink" 9x/10x Volvo B6LE's, as these are the shortest low-floor buses (bar 121), and are not needed on a Sunday as there are no 9x/10x services! However, on public holidays, the 9x/10x DOES run, so the 4B and 5/6 typically get the ex-TWM batch of Dennis Darts. The 4B and 5/6 are seen here, at Camperdown Leisure Park and Technology Park. |

Trip
to Glasgow, and the surroundings today, to give the new digicam
it's first real warm-up! Despite very changeable weather, managed
to get to Clydebank and also had a few trips round the south side.
The first five pictures to be posted are from the City Centre, if
I get a chance over the next week or so I might post some more
here (or to the ScottishBus photo group)
Despite what's been said about the Coakley fleet, two of the three CBC vehicles I spotted (all on Route 260?) carried excellent paint jobs. The other looked as if it has just escaped from Stamford Brook.... The Lynx E266 WUB is seen at Killmermont Street (opposite the Bus Station), while if you look in the back of the Dicksons picture, you will see L51 HSG, the Mercedes ex-Arriva 251. |
|
One of the "Station Connector" Optare MetroRiders (two are required at any one time) in North Hanover Street, awaiting for the lights to change so it can pass Queen Street Station heading for Buchanan. |
|
First Glasgow's SS10 seen on Service 38. The route now regularly sees Scania's and double-deckers, and is planned for an extension on its southern leg later this month. The bus is almost perfect presentation in Barbie2 livery - except for the FirstDay flyer stuffed down the registration box! More long-term, memo's handed down from Corporate HQ specifiy that all low-floor buses will be in Barbie 1 livery - regardless of trim - and that the Barbie Volvo Olympian double deckers get painted into Barbie 2. |
|
Arriva Scotland West operate half of Service 905 between Glasgow BBS and Glasgow Airport, on behalf of Scottish Citylink. Three yellow/blue Citylink Darts are used, except when a spare is needed, and a standard Arriva liveried Dart (with less luggage space!) is used. here, 827 is seen near George Square and adjacent to Queen Street station. |
|
G258 TSL was new to Stagecoach Perth as 258 in 1990, as part of the Perth Panther fleet MkII - the one that replaced those remaining Nationals, the Iveco's, and the loaned Transits. Most have moved around Stagecoach, and this one was last at Western, before being sold to McColls, but ending up with Dicksons of Erskine. Seen here at Union Street, near Central Station. |

Travel Dundee's
relaunched website stated that the Fintry services 32/33 (and 33A!)
will be re-launched in May, under the brand name of "Fintry
Shuttle". Along with other similar promos, this will use
orange colour coded route-branded buses, of which the first was
out today. 122 formerly carried kirkton branding - does this mean
there may be two batches of Fintry branded buses (as 128-133
still carry lettering for the 32/33, conmplete with Commercial
Street stop name!) Also see Monday for the Optare MetroRider on
the Fintry! Anyway, here it is!
