Sunday 29 December 2002 Scotbus.com in new content shocker!

Well, hello all.... What's happened in the last 3/4 months or so? Well, I've started a new job, moved house, lost a relative (and house-companion), I've travelled lots and lots across Scotland - and lots more besides! I managed a week's "holiday" in this time - around the Fife area mostly - and since then a few day trips here & there. However, to try to catch up slowly...

Forfar-based Volvo Olympian 951, sampled on yesterday's Angus run, was today working (most unsually) Service 20C to Forfar & Glamis Village. Seen at Dundee Bus Station, pulling off bang on 1500.

Saturday 28 December 2002
Today I travelled around Tayside (as ever!), including stops in Arbroath, Montrose, Brechin, Forfar (north side - quick changeover!), Kirriemuir, Alyth, Perth - and then back to Dundee... Despite how it looks, I've not just re-hashed the old stuff....

Left First, a few snapped in Dundee City Centre. Ex-TWM Dennis Dart SLF/SPD 89 of Travel Dundee is seen in Commercial Street, being driven by a mechanic (did someone order a bus-change?) Right No fewer than TWO Volvo B10BLE's in PrimeLine livery could be seen working RedLine Services 1A/1B today - 178 was one of them. Both seen in Commercial Street.
Left Forfar depot is now requested to send double deckers to Dundee on all Saturday workings, to ensure space with the new concession scheme recently started. That leaves 314/5 spare for other work - indeed, 315 is seen here arriving - almost - at Arbroath, before running onto the Gala Bingo in the High Street. Leyland Tigers, and Olympians on some journeys, work the other bits of the route. Right Mercedes L608D 142 is seen at Arbroath Bus Station. The lower panels have been replaced with plain blue flat panels, over the years, but more spectacularly, recently a scrap coach-liveried DP-seated example has donated its door to 142 - hence an unsual series of colour layouts!
Left G&N Wishart (a part of Tayside PTC/Travel Dundee) has two Optare Solos for Service 140 - the second, and shorter one, is seen leaving Arbroath Bus Station. Travel Dundee are now using two more similar Solos, in the City - mostly on Service 51. Right One of Strathtay's newest Volvo B7TL's displaying 43 not 73 for some reason - the clippie is hiding his/her face with the running board! I think they've got to regonise me... and one of those travelling with me...
Left You've probably already recognised the location - Montrose... When we arrived, Vario 223 was behind the depot, and 220 was in Dundee, as it has been for the last week. So, Optare MetroRider 151 was working Service 48... and was photgraphed turning from High Street into Hume Street. Right By the time we'd got round to finishing eating at RoadRunner's, 223 was on Service 47A! Or, was it another in the depot? Can't figure it out either, but this is a 47A as it can't put up an "A" on the 3rd track - for some reason. Seen at Montrose Station.
Left Montrose depot got step-entrance, seatbelt-fitted Dart 305 from Arbroath in the summer - when Arbroath got 304 from Dundeee, as Dundee got SLF 313 from Montrose! 313 was pictured on this site in the summer, but this is the first time I've got a sighting of 305 out the depot! On weekdays, the 47 needs 1 single decker - usually SLF 312 - and 1 double decker. On Saturdays, with no school loads, two Darts can be used in safety. The bus is seen at Montrose Station. Right After we travelled through Strathmore, we got to Perth... The evening journey on Fife 56A from Cowdenbeath to Perth via Abernethy, then continues as Service 17 to Dunning (17PK on the ticket machine). This run has been running Friday/Saturday for a while now, but the 17 Dunning run is now Monday-Saturday - Stagecoach in Perth work the service on the other days of the week, along with a Sunday service, and the main 17 service through to Gleneagles - which is now on the digital blinds... Usually, a MAN single-decker is sent off the 19, but PS type 301 was being used this evening.

Sunday 22 December 2002
Trip via St Andrews, Glenrothes to Edinburgh, then Livingston, backl to Edinburgh, then via Dunfermline to Dundee... Not many photos taken, but got a good one in St Andys bus stn...

Volvo B10M coach 531, recently acquired from Stagecoach Transit... which does not have any Edinburgh/Glasgow etc. lettering, but has just had its "foreign" lettering removed. This, of course, makes it more suitable for the St Andrew - Stirling Service 23, also... This coach will be re-numbered with the rest of the fleet - a new fleetlist will be uploaded soon.
