Saturday 7 September 2002 Angus stuff!

Strathtay's Montrose depot is using MCW Metrorider (new to Strathclyde's Buses) 214 on town service 48. Seen opposite RoadRunners take-away in Montrose town centre, the bus is showing the new Scottish Ezxecutive advertising for the "Bus Fair" concession travel scheme.
M. W. Nicoll's long-awaited Optare Solo has now been delivered... this 31-seater, YL 02 FKZ, is mainly being used on coastal road services 113/114. The Ninewells Hospital - Laurencekirk service is presently due for withdrawal either in October, or December. Seen at Montrose railway station.
Strathtay's newes acqusition is Y484 PSR (221), a former Docherty's Mercedes Vario/Plaxton Beaver. This was unique at DMC as being the only Vario with an automatic gearbox. Strathtay are now using this on the Brechin Local service 34 - now worked from Arbroath depot - and this now includes the school journeys (previously worked by a Leopard from Forfar). Seen at St Ninians Square, Brechin.
Meffan's 128 Kirriemuir - Alyth service was extended earlier in the year, to Brechin Road. The School journeys (that use a single decker) turn at Quarry Park. However, the majority of journeys (minibuses) can turn in the Lisden Gardens sheltered housing development. The bus is seen at the latter.

The Camperdown Flower Show & Food Festival starts today at Camperdown Park, Dundee. As in past years, Travel Dundee are providing one double-deck bus on an hourly shuttle service to the City Centre. This year's vehicle is more significant, as it is the first service use of a Volvo B7TL double decker (182) other than the 22/22C PrimeLine service. So, it was more unique than perhaps meets the eye! Strathtay 314 is also shown, this was photographed from the top of 182!
